Palhyeon Marsh Series
Palhyeon Marsh Series는 보도교 공사가 예정된 팔현습지를 기록한 작업이다. 이 장소는 개발을 둘러싼 논의 속에서, 오랜 시간 축적된 자연의 질서와 인간의 개입이 중첩되어 나타나는 공간이다. 이곳을 하나의 문제로 단정하거나 특정한 입장을 제시하기보다, 인간의 개입이 이 공간의 상태를 어떻게 변화시키고 있는지를 관찰하고 기록한다. 본래 머무름의 성격을 지니던 이 장소는 점차 기능적으로 소비되는 풍경으로 전환되고 있으며, 그 과정에서 장소로서의 성격은 약화되고 익명적인 공간으로 변해간다. 이와 동시에 자연과 인공, 보존과 개발이라는 서로 다른 질서가 하나의 장면 안에서 충돌하며 공존한다. 이러한 중첩된 상태는 단일한 의미로 환원되지 않으며, 이 공간을 복합적인 층위로 인식하게 만든다. 이 작업은 팔현습지를 특정한 결론으로 규정하기보다, 서로 다른 성격들이 교차하는 이질적인 상태를 드러내는 데에 목적이 있다. Palhyeon Marsh Series is a photographic project documenting the Palhyeon wetland, where the construction of a pedestrian bridge is planned. Within ongoing debates surrounding development, this site reveals a layered condition in which the accumulated order of nature overlaps with human intervention. Rather than defining this place as a problem or asserting a particular stance, I observe and record how human intervention is transforming the state of this space. Originally characterized as a place of dwelling, the site is gradually shifting into a functionally consumed landscape. In this process, its qualities as a “place” are weakened, while it increasingly takes on the attributes of an anonymous space. At the same time, different orders—nature and the artificial, preservation and development—coexist and collide within a single frame. This overlapping condition resists reduction to a singular meaning and instead reveals the site as a complex, multi-layered spatial condition. This work does not aim to arrive at a fixed conclusion about the Palhyeon wetland, but rather to reveal the heterogeneous state in which different characteristics intersect and coexist.
